Mangaluru: Light House Hill Road renaming - university experts report today

Mangaluru, Sep 13: Out of the members of the fact finding committee formed to go into the demands to rename Light House HIll Road, the preliminary report prepared by Lokesh, professor in history department, Mangaluru University, and head of history department in the university, Uday Kumar Barkur, is expected to be handed over to the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday September 13.

It is learnt that the experts have studied different representations, as well as materials and documents submitted by the organizations connected thereto on the issue of renaming of the said road from the historic point of view before preparing this report.

A decision to form a fact finding committee was taken af ter a harmony meeting conducted in the presence of district in charge minister on August 29 failed to reach a consensus.

Other members of the committee are additional deputy commissioner of the district and city corporation commissioner. Sources say that a final decision would not possibly be taken on the basis of preliminary report. It said that members of the committee may have to meet a few times before the district administration arrives at a clear conclusion.
