Bhatkal, Sep 13: “The country is in pitiable condition. People in north India and north-east long for a loaf of bread. The work of giving life to the dreams of crores of people should take place,” said union minister of state for skill development, Ananth Kumar Hegde.

He was speaking after being felicited by Bhatkal BJP mandala on Tuesday, September 12.

“The Prime Minister called me and said that he is entrusting me a challenge and not a responsibility. How could I refuse it? I am confident of completing the task in a year. People will call me unfit if I do not complete it. It is a baby born out of the dream of Modi. The projects concerning it will officially come out in the days to come. Those who have lost their identity in society should be able to stand up. It is the aim of the department of skill development. The skills of fisherman, blacksmith, carpenter or sculptor will not be found in a person who has passed B A, M A or Engineering degree. They only have a certificate. But base level workers have the skills. Therefore, there are plans to identify them and issue university level certificates to them. I will not speak about them in my speech but show them in action. Life without hard work is like a lottery ticket. We should learn to live by hard work,” he said.

“We have concluded that only roads, water, drainage and light as development. It is only a phase of development. The real development in the country means social, economical, cultural and educational development. I have been working to develop them in every stage during the last twenty years. I have done several things in that direction.”

Chair has changed but Ananth has not

Some people had assumed that Ananth Kumar will change after receiving union government position. “My chair has changed but I have not changed. The same blood flows in my body. Dr Chittaranjan introduced me who had no ability to stand for grama panchayat elections to Lok Sabha. I have grown to this height with your love and respect. I am not walking on the path walked by others. I have accepted the country, religion and people and accepted the ordainment by the country as a challenge. I will present myself in front of you next year. Please bless me as usual,” he said.

“I want to give a new shape to the New India of Modiji. I have planned new projects that make the people confident so that they themselves can come forward,” he said.

Namdhari Samaja president M R Naika, former minister Shivananda Naika and others spoke on the occasion.
