Mangalore, May 30: Canara Organization for Development and Peace (CODP), organized a function for distributing scholarships to poor students aspiring to pursue further education, on Thursday May 29 morning, at the CODP auditorium.
Fr Wilson D'Souza, secretary of Catholic Board of Education, speaking on the occasion, emphasized the need for the students to pursue character based life goals, citing examples.
CODP secretary Fr Onil D'Souza in his introductory address, explained the significance and objectives of awarding scholarships. He informed, that CODP has been distributing scholarships to thousands of poor students who aspire to study further, since the past 35 years. The scholarships awarded ahead of school re-opening would be of immense help to these students, facilitating them to get going with studies, without bothering about funds shortage.
CODP employees Reena, Philomena and Asha, invoked prayer hymn. Victor welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. Scholarships were awarded to a total of 120 students at the occasion.
