Bengaluru, Aug 28: A man who was living alone after deserting his wife and children stands arrested. He has been accused of kidnapping a 20-year-old woman, forcibly tying the customary 'Taali' around her neck to signify marriage, and then raping her.
Santhosh (32), resident of Agrahara Dasarahalli here, has been arrested for these offences. Santhosh was operating a shop near his rented house where clothes were ironed. The lady in question used to visit his shop to get clothes pressed. He had expressed to her about his desire to marry her but the woman had refused his advances. She also had conveyed to her parents about the behaviour of the man.
When the parents of the lady went to give sane advice to the man, he had pleaded with them to give their daughter in marriage to him. Police personnel said that the parents not only refused to oblige but also censured him for his undesirable advances and warned him against continuing with harassment their daughter.
Santhosh is already married with two children. He had left his wife and children in the lurch and moved away from them two years back. He wanted to marry the lady as she belongs to the same caste. He has now been remanded to judicial custody and sent to Parappana Agrahara prison.
