Mangaluru, Aug 23: Police personnel attached to the city crime branch (CCB) here succeeded in arresting a person who was found to be bringing two kg of ganja into the city from Kasargod. He was arrested on Tuesday August 22.
The arrested accused has been identified as Muhammed Dawood Ibrahim (28), resident of Bhandara House in Manjeshwar. Another person who was accompanying Ibrahim fled at the sight of the policemen.
The duo was bringing ganja from Kasargod in a motor bike. The police who had reliable information about them, arrested Ibrahim from near Talapady. The other accused gave the police personnel a slip. The value of the ganja confiscated now has been put at Rs 20,000.
The operation was conducted by a team led by CCB sub-inspector, Shyam Sundar, working under the instructions of city police commissioner, T R Suresh and guidance of deputy commissioner of police, Hanumantharaya and assistant commissioner of police, Valentine D'Souza.
