Mangaluru, Aug 19: Narcotics Anonymous, an international community-based association of recovering drug addicts, will soon start its recovery meetings in the city. The organisation's only mission is to provide an environment in which addicts can help one another stop using drugs and find a new way to live.
Addressing media here on Saturday, August 19, recovery member of NA, Benjamin said, "The NA programme has at its core 12 principals practised on a regular basis to lift the obsession to use drugs again. It is based on the spiritual principles such as honesty, open-mindedness, willingness, acceptance, care, compassion, and unconditional love. NA is bound with traditions that keep them in unity and also in union with others. This programme follows the principle of anonymity that helps in maintaining a sense of equality and secures identities to the outside world."
He also said, "NA does not accept financial contributions from any non-members. We do not affiliate, endorse or lend their name to any outside enterprise nor does it express any opinion on issues outside its sphere of activity. The only requirement for membership in NA for one is to have the desire to stop using drugs. We will not receive any fee for the programme."
He also said, "Narcotics anonymous is a renowned worldwide non-profit community-based organisation with a membership close to one million. Witnessing the great results in NA, we are recognised and hold a special consultative status at the UN."
Members of NA Benedict, Rizwan and Akhtar were present at the meet.
NA meeting in the city will be held every Sunday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Women's College Jyothi.
