Bantwal: Witnesses in murder attempt case beaten up by gang

Bantwal, Aug 19: On Friday August 18, a gang attacked two leading witnesses in an attempt to murder case that had happened at Kabaka on June 28 this year relating to a stone quarry. In addition to assaulting the two, the gang also posed death threats, it is learnt.

In this incident, Abdulla (65), resident of Kodippady in Puttur taluk, and his son, Farooq (29), suffered serious injuries. They are being treated at the community health centre, Vittal.

Farooq and Abdulla were on their way to mosque to offer prayers on Friday when a gang of seven blocked their way, attacked them at will, and posed death threat before fleeing. The injured duo told the Vittal police that the gang members ordered them against adducing witness in the Khader murder attempt case against main accused, Ummer.

Truck driver, Abdul Khader from Kallandadka was sitting in a shop at Kabaka on the afternoon of June 28 this year when a gang had attacked him with swords, and tried to kill him. He had been seriously injured in the incident. Later, some of the accused in the case had been arrested by Puttur police.

In this case, Farooq and Abdulla are the main witnesses. The injured duo said that this attack was launched because of the fact that they are witnesses in this case.They have named their attackers as Latif, Shaqir, Qasim, Ibrahim, Nooruddin, Pataulla and Irshad.
