Inchara Udupi Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (EP) Udupi, Aug 19: A member of municipal council here came forward to dispose of hundreds of kgs of chicken waste accumulated on a daily basis in her private land. She has become a model by helping the municipal council by doing so. The wet waste was collected in mud pots in the land belonging to Kaup municipal council member Shantalatha Shetty on Thursday, August 18 and disposed of as liquid manure.
The programme was held in the leadership of council president Rayappa and was set in motion by president Saumya Sanjiva. Council vice president K H Usman, self-help group member Sesi, members and local people were present. The waste was spread at a length and depth of six feet on hay mixed with manure out of cow dung in three layers of 1.5 feet height each in 18 mud pots. The manure that comes out of it in the form of liquid can be mixed with 30 parts of water and used for cultivation and horticulture. The initiative of municipal council member Shantalatha Shetty when it is difficult to find a place to dispose of trash is being commended by all. Villagers are enthusiastic about the new form of manure and eager to use it.
