Udupi, Aug 16: In an incident which happened in the early hours of Tuesday August 15, a car that was moving in a suspicious manner, hit and injured a home guards personnel posted on duty along with police personnel at Kaup Polipu junction on national highway 66.
Venkataraman Servegar (55), resident of Mallaru Kombagudde near Kaup, was injured in this incident.
At around 2.10 am on Tuesday, when Venkataramana along with some other police personnel, was discharging duty at Polipu junction, the staff got information from the control room in the town about the suspicious-looking movement of a red car approaching the junction. Servegar signalled the red car as it approached the junction to stop, but those in the car hit him with the vehicle before speeding away.
Venkataramana, who suffered injuries in his head, body and limbs, fell on the road. He was brought to the town for treatment. The car and its driver have remained untraceable so far. Kaup police have registered a case and begun investigation.
