London, Aug 14 (IANS): Olympic champion Caster Semenya of South Africa made a strong comeback in the final to take away the women's 800m gold medal at the IAAF World Championships here.
Semanya, still third after the curve, got past Olympic silver medalist Francine Niyonsaba and Ajee Wilson in the final 100 meters, finishing with a world leading time of one minute and 55.16 seconds on Sunday night, reports Xinhua news agency.
Niyonsaba ranked second with 1 minute and 55.92 seconds while Wilson finished third in 1:56.65.
