Kasargod: Court spurns woman's plan to elope with paramour

Kasargod, Aug 14: A court here has poured cold water on the plans of a woman to elope with her paramour, duly deserting her husband and four-year-old son in the process. As she has left the home of her husband, and her  parents too have refused to own her, the lady has now been given shelter in the government hostel for women here.

Sona (25), a resident of Kalyat within the limits of Bekal police station, had of late become friendly with the driver of a private bus. She had left  behind her husband and child a week back to live with the bus driver. Her husband had filed missing complaint in Bekal police station. The police who succeeded in finding her whereabouts,  produced Sona in the court.

The woman told the court that she wants to go with her lover. The court, observing that she has already married legally, and also has a child to look after, told her that she cannot leave her husband without getting divorce officially. Therefore, the court had ordered the police to accompany her to the woman's parents. Although the parents were summoned to police station and counselled, they dithered from admitting her back home because of the disrepute she brought to the family by running away with another man.

Therefore, the police provided her shelter in the government hostel for women.

Hope it is not a walking distance to her paramour's house.
