Udupi, Jul 30: The members of Students of Islamic Organization Udupi unit staged a protest on Saturday July 29 in front of Clock tower demanding justice for the mysterious death of 15-year-old Kavya, a student of Alvas High School. She was a badminton champion who allegedly committed suicide recently.
Addressing the protesters, Yasin Kodibengre said, “The protest has been organized to create public awareness. The unusual death has been termed as suicide by hiding the facts. Parents send their children to prestigious education institutions with great expectation and dignity, but they are not aware of pressure at schools. In the earlier mysterious death cases at the institution, mentally challenged persons were accused. Police should conduct a detailed investigation and her family should get justice.”
G Rajashekar, leader of Komu Sauharda Vedike said, “Earlier, many such death cases have been reported at the institution and were closed without proper investigations. Even there is no clarity in Kavya's death. It has been termed as suicide even before police investigations.
“So far, no verdict has been passed in Soujanya murder case. This case still remains mysterious. Of late, there has a practice of upholding unusual deaths of people as suicide but the reality may be altogether different. The true facts must be revealed at the earliest regarding Kavya’s death. The police department should conduct a detailed investigation to know whether it was murder or suicide. The criminals then need to get stringent punishment. Only then, such mysterious murder incidents will come under control.”
Samvartha Sahil, Idris Hoode and others were present.
