Bengaluru, Jul 28 (DHNS): The inflow to Tungabhadra reservoir at Hosapete in Ballari district increased to 19,052 cusecs on Thursday, up from 18,653 cusecs on Wednesday. The dam received 2 tmc ft of water on a single day, with the storage going up to 34.247 tmc ft. But the storage is 6 tmc ft less than that on the corresponding day last year.

The outflow was 1,243 cusecs. Showers lashed Kalaburagi and surrounding areas for some time in the afternoon. With rain receding in Sakleshpur, Hassan district and Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru district, inflow to Hemavathi dam has come down. The inflow, which was 13,224 cusecs on Tuesday, reduced to 5,084 cusecs on Wednesday. It was 4,433 cusecs on Thursday. While the total capacity of Hemavathy dam is 37.103 tmc ft, current storage is 15.205 tmc ft.

With the Cauvery river water sharing case being heard by the Supreme Court, the farmers are anxious that water may be released to Tamil Nadu any moment. Hence, farmers of the district have submitted a memorandum to Hemavathi chief engineer G T Venkatesh, urging him to release water from the dam to the canals immediately. They have also warned of a severe protest, if their demand is not met.

The water level was 2,892.05 ft against the maximum of 2,922 ft. The inflow was 4,433 cusecs and outflow 150 cusecs.

The water level at KRS dam in Mandya district was 89.50 ft against maximum level of 124.80 ft. While inflow was 5,508 cusecs, outflow was 4,072 cusecs. The Kabini dam level was 2,274.40 ft on Thursday, with an inflow of 5,000 cusecs and outflow 6,000 cusecs. The maximum level is 2,284 ft.

Madikeri district received moderate showers. While it drizzled at noon, parts of the district received good showers in the evening. In the last 24 hours, the district received 6.66 mm rain. From January till date, the region has received 1,192 mm rain against 1,140 mm last year in the same period.

Intermittent rain lashed Malnad region in Shivamogga district. Thirthahalli, Hosanagar, Shivamogga and Bhadravathi received showers intermittently. But the intensity was less.
