Udupi, Jul 23: Sports and youth affairs minister Pramod Madhwaraj released ‘Jana Siri and Jnana Isiri’ books of Shantivana trust(R) at U Kamalabai High School Kadiyali on Saturday July 22.
Shantivan Trust in association with Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara yoga and moral education scheme and department of education brought out their 43 and 44 books.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Pramod Madhwaraj said, “Children should learn moral values along with formal education. This knowledge is earned from these two books. These books need to be translated in other languages so that it may help more children to build a solid character and life.”
Dr D Veerendra Heggade, administrator Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala, Dr Mahesh Joshi, ex-director general Doordarshan, Dr H Shantaram administrator academy of general education Manipal, Divakar Shetty, DDPI Udupi Sitaram Tolpaditaya of Shantivan trust, Dr I Shashikanth Jain, director yoga and moral education scheme were present.
Dharmasthala rural development scheme initiates Social Forestry
Dharmasthala rural development scheme launched a programme called social forestry. The programme aims to cultivate forests all over Karnataka. On Saturday, July 23, Veerendra Hegadde flagged off the initiative at Vishnumoorthy High school Kodibettu, Udupi.
D Veerendra Heggade said, “Man is becoming more intelligent day by day. But he is not caring about the environment. The lack of rainfall is due to the ill treatment of nature by human beings. Shantivan Trust(R) is bringing awareness to save environment and water resources.”
“Under this project about 29 lac seed balls of various fruits and medicinal plants are to be used for social forestry. 2 lac plants are also to be cultivated under this project all over Karnataka. Environmentalists and school children are supporting this project and have joined hands for social forestry,” he added.
