The parents of the children however are apprehensive of the education of their children getting affected.
Gopal Poojary said that the department of education has promised to provide grant of Rs 13 lac for constructing a new school building. He said he would provide five lac rupees from his local area development fund for the school so that a building costing Rs 18 lac could be built.
On Friday, BJP state executive member, B M Sukumar Shetty, visited the school. Parents of students informed him that nothing has been done although the concerned are being requested for a new building since the last five to six years and that the officials of the education department, when approached with the problem, showed resentment at the parents. They claimed that the officials told them to send the children for lunch to school even if they do not attend classes.
Shetty said that school development and monitoring committee has been fighting for new building since the last six years, and the department and MLA have failed to provide funds. He condemned the officials for expressing ire at the parents. He also criticized the district administration for sitting quiet even when the building has suffered a crash and the school is now being closed for a week or so.
