Bhatkal, Jul 21: Two youth were seriously injured when they crashed into each other while swimming in the Shirali river late evening on Thursday, July 20.
The injured have been identified as Muhiddin Marwan Muniri (19) and Shaeeb Shabbir Shaikh (20).
According to sources, Muhiddin and Shaheeb dived into the river and went underwater where they hit against each other. The duo was almost drowning when some people saw and rescued them.
The injured were immediately shifted to Bhatkal government hospital, and later to Udupi and Mangaluru.
Marwan. who was shifted to ICU at a private hospital in Udupi has now regained consciousness. Shabeeb is said to be very critical as his backbone has fractured leaving him immobilized.
