Mumbai, Jul 12: A small time actress who claims to have starred in TV show Crime Patrol had visited a police station in Pune to register a rape complaint but instead has been booked for dacoity along with three other accomplices.
In an interesting turn of events, Pooja Jhadhav (25) had visited Bhosari police station to register a complaint against Niyamat Kadri for raping her. However, cops grew suspicious when she refused to file an FIR and kept giving contradicting statements during interrogation.
According to Senior Police Inspector Dilip Kulkarni, on July 8th, Pooja visited the station accompanied by Ravindra Motiram Shrisaam (45), Maya Bhaskar Sawant (50) and Sonal Dattatray Pawar (24) who claim to be social workers.
Pooja said she was raped but refused to file an FIR. When Kulkarni insisted for an FIR, she agreed but her statements had several discrepancies. "She said she was raped in a lodge but was speechless when asked on why she had not screamed for help," said Kulkarni.
Police then started questioning Kadri, who was brought to the station by Pooja’s accomplices and things started to fall in place.
It seems that Jadhav and her accomplices had approached Kadri thinking he was a builder and asked him to meet in a lodge. Here, Pooja forced herself on Kadri. When he left, her accomplices blackmailed him for Rs 5 lakhs and warned that they will file a rape complaint if he does not comply.
They then forced Kadri in a car and took him to an isolated spot. When they started threatening him for money, they found that Kadri was not a builder but a contractor and they caught hold of the wrong person. They then asked him to pay Rs 25,000. When Kadri was unable to pay, they snatched Rs 6000 from Kadri and dragged him to the police station to file a rape complaint.
"During our investigation, we found out that Jadhav and her accomplices have been operating as a group since 2012," said Kulkarni.
Police have booked Jadhav, Shrisaam, Sawant and Pawar under Section 395 of the Indian Penal Code for dacoity and robbery. Two other members of the group, Anita Jadhav and Maya Ahol, are currently on the run.
