Mangaluru: VHP warns govt against arresting Hindu leaders booked for stone-pelting

Mangaluru, Jul 10: Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) on Monday July 10 warned the state government against arresting Hindu leaders booked in the stone-pelting incident during RSS worker Sharath Madivala's procession, and said that the government would be directly responsible for the consequences if the police were to arrest them.

Addressing a press meet here, VHP district working president Jagadish Shenava said, "The state government will be directly responsible for the consquences if the police arrest Hindu leaders for their alleged involvement in stone-pelting at Kaikamba during the funeral procession of Sharath Madivala.

"Sharath was attacked by miscreants on July 4 at BC Road. He breathed his last on July 8 and the funeral procession was carried out from AJ Hospital to his hometown at Sajipamunnur. The procession was peacefully carried out, but once it crossed Kaikamba, a few people pelted stones damaging vehicles, shops and injuring a few. Security was tightened throughout the stretch from Mangaluru to Brahmarakootlu, but we feel that it was lacking in Kaikamba which is a very sensitive area.

"Yesterday (Sunday July 9) police raided Satyajit Suratkal's residence for his involvement in stone-pelting case. Police are looking to arrest Hindu leaders Sharan Pumpwell, Harish Poonja, Muralikrishna and Pradeep. The procession was managed by VHP and Bajrang Dal and the entire community took part in it. But unneccessarily police are trying to arrest Hindu leaders in the case. The truth is, these five Hindu leaders had already reached Melkar by the time there was stone-pelting at Kaikamba," he said.

"When SDPI leader Ashraf Kalayi's funeral procession was carried out, the Hindu leaders did not interrupt it. During the procession, nearly 30 to 40 people stabbed a youth when the procession reached Adyar, just because he belonged to the Hindu community. Even during Kalladka incident, Pavan was stabbed, Chiranjeevi was stabbed but so far no one has been arrested in either of the cases. The police have failed to nab the culprits behind Sharath Madivala's murder too. When a Hindu member is murdered police fail to nab the culprits but when a Muslim is murdered, the accused is arrested within 24 hours," he alleged.

"Some even say that stone pelters were from Kerala. Even in Kuttappa and Rudresh murder cases, there were Keralites. Kerala outfits have an ISIS mindset and they are trying to disrupt peace in our district too. PFI, SDPI and CPI have hidden agendas and they need to be stopped, or else Dakshina Kannada will definitely turn into another Kashmir. These organisations want to make this country a Muslim nation, but we will never allow it to happen," he added.

VHP secretary M B Puranik said that the VHP and the Bajrang Dal will hand over compensation of Rs 50,000 to Sharath Madivala's family.

VHP members Bhujanga Kulal, Vasudev and others were present.

Whoever breaks the law should be arrested. It does not matter which religion or which political party he belongs to. The state government should show some spine and arrest the trouble makers without further delay. We want peace in this region. Enough is enough. We never had such problems about ten to fifteen years ago. Our district was known for brotherly relations between members of various communities. We never had problems in school when students of all communities freely mingled with each other. Communal disturbances were unheard of those days. It is a recent development, it sprouted about ten to fifteen years back. The people of this district should use their brains and boycott people who are fomenting this kind of trouble. We will be grateful to the government if they come down heavily on those creating mischief. Let us all get together and bring back the good old days. You don't have to be a Hindu or a Muslim or a Catholic. Think beyond religion.

For present communal disturbance Mangaloreans should blame themselves. The Mangaloreans are continuously electing BJP since 1991 from last 25 years. It would have been 'smart city' way back.
Once peace loving people are now facing each other with doubt in mind about their own people. The investments have gone down, once constituency of education topper district now slipped to first five position. Crime rates are going up. Boys and girls can't make eye contact. Even leisure is become threat to life.

Is this the 'Acce din' our most educated district people waiting for long? Mangalore has certainly become part of Afghan war lords where Sangh 'talibanisation' rules. When sitting MP can threaten to burn down the city which Lord Hanuman did to save sita from Ravana Rajya.

Mangalore need to do some retrospective electing their people's representative in the coming election. Otherwise Karnataka may see the worst of CM Yogi Uttar Pradesh.

This is what I am reading on these recent .. readers pl correct

    Ashraf Kalayi killers arrested
    Injured Naufal's attackers arrested

    Pawan's attackers no clue yet
chiranjeevi attaker - no clue yet
most importantly the butcherers of innocent Sharat- not yet
people who threw stones on sharat's funeral procession - no ?
people who were part of procession - Vhp alleges of being chased..

Quite strange development. the killers are still at large? crossed the country boarder? or getting bravery awards ? lets wait and watch.. still have faith in judiciary not on politicians.

Do you require the permission of the Sangh Parivar to book their goons? Put them behind bars and keep them locked including some of their politicians. There needs to be an end to this madness. Placing them in jails will help Hinduism to be a religion of harmony and unity and not of divisiveness. Even the Pejawara Swami desires unity. Who are these goons compared to the spiritual leader? With the hypocrisy exposed there is no way BJP can win the next elections in DK

Nothing will happen and no one can challenge the govt. Those who are involved in the violence should be put behind the bar under goonda act irrespective of religion. If this VHP thugs challenging and threatening the govt, they should be booked under sedition. No one can declare the war against state or country.
