Bengaluru, Jul 3: "Henceforth, we will not allow holding of Iftar parties in any of the temples including Srikrishna Math at Udupi. We will thwart any attempt to hold such parties henceforth even if that entails bloodshed," said Sri Ram Sene chief, Pramod Miuthalik.
He was addressing the participants of a protest programme organized by the Sene near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on Sheshadri Road here on Sunday July 2, to express resentment at the Iftar party hosted by head of Pejavar Math, Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji, at Udupi Srikrishna Math.
Muthalik stressed that his organization is not in confrontation with Pejavar Swamiji. "We are against organizing of Iftar party inside Srikrishna Math. If such things are organized in Maths and temples, they give a wrong signal to Hindu society as a whole. Hinduism preaches religious tolerance. At the same time we firmly believe that God resides inside the temples," he explained.
Muthalik said that Hinduism does not need lessons on peace from others. "Peace needs to be taught to people who are disturbing harmony in the society through cow slaughter, terrorism, and rapes. At present, people protecting cows are being jailed while those slaughtering cows command respect," he said. He also demanded for the arrest of writer, Bhagawan, for openly consuming beef in a government hall at Mysuru.
