Bengaluru, Jul 1: Cyber crime cell police personnel of criminal investigation department here have arrested a software engineer for sending a satirical message after creating a fake Twitter account in the name of chief minister Siddaramaiah. The message conveys the desire of the sender to stay asleep in Vidhan Soudha.
The arrested techie is Madhusudan (30) of Mandya origin. He works for a software company based in the city. CID police said that he was produced in court on Friday and remanded to judicial custody.
Media adviser to the chief minister, Dinesh Amin Mattu, had filed a complaint with CID in this respect during December last. The police who got in touch with twitter got to know that the accused was in the city. Madhusudan was arrested on the basis of e-mail ID and IP address.
The police claimed that during questioning the techie confessed to have created a twitter account in the name, 'CM of Karnataka', making some posts there, and then deleting it.
"Madhusudan admitted to creating the Twitter account in the chief minister's name and tweeting on his behalf. He also removed some posts from the handle to cover up the tracks," added the statement.
