Udupi, Jun 27: ?People, who were fed up with a lineman, manhandled him on Monday, June 26 at Kalaibailu in Udyavar near here. The lineman named Kishore was accused of harassing his wife and disturbing people by taking out fuse at the transformer to disconnect electricity to households in the village.

Kishore works for Mescom in Malpe. Whenever he visited his wife’s house at Kalaibailu, he would come drunk. He would damage the tiles of the house and fans. He would even mix water and glass pieces in the food eaten by his wife in order to harass her. At times he took out the fuse from the transformer to disconnect electricity. He even would accuse his wife of extramarital affairs and beat her up.

Though the villagers had complained about Kishore taking out fuse, no action was taken against him by Mescom. Kishore continued doing the same thing without any fear.

But on Monday, When Kishore came to disconnect electricity, he was caught by people. Then the people tied him to a tree and manhandled him. Kishore, who was totally drunk, said that if his wife wants to be happy, she should come to Mescom staff quarters in Malpe and live with him. He also claimed that he is a rowdy and had killed a person named Ranjith in Mulky.

Relatives of Savithri, wife of Kishore, have demanded that Mescom should not pay Kishore directly, but should pay his salary to Savithri so that she can look after her two children properly.

People of Kalaibailu in Brahmavar taking the law in their own hands and punishing Kishor is inapt. He is working for MESCOM and how his wife's relatives can demand his salary to be paid to her? Suppose whilst manhandling, had he died, what is the outcome? Law will take his own course and those who manhandled will be booked and made responsible for his death....

No doubt, Kishore is a habitual drunkard, harassing his wife Savithri, not paying her and also disturbing peace of others in the village.

A drunkard's life can be changed and he can realize his mistakes and look after his wife and children well in order to lead a decent and better life provided some good thinking people come forward and take the help of a social worker or who can solve this problem. People of Kalaibailu in Brahmavar taking the law in their own hands and punishing Kishor is not at all right. He is working for MESCOM and how his wife's relatives can demand his salary to be paid to her?

This is my solitary opinion please...

He needs AA help. Alcoholism is a killer disease, it not only kills the one who is afflicted but the near and dear ones too.

The wife is not staying with him makes this case fishy and clearly husband is a victim here . Due to harassment by wife likely he started drinking.

Why is his wife not living with him at staff quarters? If she doesn't want him let her apply for a divorce and end it decently.
He is working for MESCOM. How can fools demand his salary to be credited to his wife's account?
Let him face the law only for disconnecting the electricity lines. He can be booked for harassment only if his wife files a complaint.

Good work done by public and social workers of the Village. I know such incidences happen when wife gets troubled by drunken husbands. Husband who drink will often come home and beat their wives. In fact I am of the opinion that drunkard husabnds are the root cause of many disharmony in marriages. This woman got good support from the public and social workers who gave the drubken husband a fitting reply. |I appreciate what social workers and publci has done to this rowdy drunkard husband. I emphasis to all men that alcohol is the root cause of amany toruble in life. Sop drinking alcohol and your family will be fine
