Kasargod, Jun 16: An attempt was made on the life of a youth moving in scooter at Periyadka Arasikere within the limits of Mogralputtur panchayat in the district on the night of Wednesday June 14. A car dashed against his scooter, and after the rider fell down, he was attacked with lethal weapons. The youth stands admitted into a hospital at Mangaluru for treatment.
The victim of this attack happened to be Rajesh alias Raju (28), a resident of Periyadka Majal. He suffered injuries in his head, stomach, legs and hands. Raju, who hires Shamianas for a living, had worked on erecting a Shamiana late on the night of Wednesday. He was returning home in his two-wheeler, when a gang of four seated in a car followed him before attacking him and speeding away. Police personnel on patrol duty nearby heard his wails of the young man and rushed to the spot. By then the gang had fled. Policemen provided first aid to the youth in the town before shifting him to a hospital at Mangaluru.
Police personnel are waiting for Rajesh to recover so that full details of the culprits can be obtained from him. On the basis of what he said, a case against four persons has been registered in the town police station here.
Deputy superintendent of police, Harishchandra Naik, and circle inspector, Rahim, visited the spot where the murder attempt happened, scanned the area, and recorded details.
