Mangalore: New Directors of MCC Bank Meet Employees

Mangalore, Apr 11: The new directors of the Mangalore Catholic Co-operative Bank Ltd elected at the recently held elections met all the employees of the bank for the first time at a special meeting held at the administrative office of the bank at Hampankatta here recently.

Newly-elected chairman Melwyn D’Cunha who presided over this interactive meeting said that with the cooperation of the staff the bank can definitely come out of its present hardships and will be able to declare dividend as soon as possible. D’Cunha requested the staff to build good relationship with members and customers, both depositors and borrowers. He called upon them to work hard for the bank and in return he assured them good benefits. He added, 'It is the desire of the board to modernise the branches to the satisfaction of the customers, to make deposits as well as loans more attractive and to introduce more types of loans.' He hoped that at the end of five years' term the bank will rise to the scheduled bank status.

The chief guest of the meeting R Gopalkrishna, retired deputy general manager of the Reserve Bank of India, who is currently the advisor of the Karnataka State Urban Banks’ Federation and to the MCC Bank said that recovery of the loans is an important factor to reduce ‘non-performing asset’ (NPA) value. He advised the staff to give respect to depositors and at the same time to borrowers too as profitability rises from them. As the bank turns to profitability the staff will also be profited out of it.

Director Stephen Quadros who led the prayer and welcomed the gathering said that MCC Bank belongs to the Konkani Catholic Community  which has a separate identity. The entire community is expecting a stronger MCC bank. The members have chosen them to achieve this goal. Directors and employees are the partners in the progress of the bank. By dedication and hard work good profitability can be achieved within a couple of years. Thereby the desire of our community of constructing a strong bank can be fulfilled..

Directors Dr Edward Nazareth and Raymond D’Cunha also spoke on the occasion and requested the support of employees to turn the bank in to a successful venture of our community. Marryl Menezes, staff of the bank also spoke on the occasion. 

Vice-president John Rodrigues, directors Valerian Rodrigues, Valerian Sequeira, John D’Silva, Adolpus Avitas Cutinha and general manager Clifford D’Souza were present on the dais.
