Udupi, Apr 9: Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai has reformed Kannada language which was in grave danger owing to impact of the globalization, said Prof Mallepuram G Venkatesh, director of Prasaranga (Publications), Kannada University of Hampi.

He was delivering the inaugural address at the two-day programme on study of Rastrakavi Govinda Pai's works and communication, held at Ravindra Mantapa of MGM College here on Wednesday April 9.

Pai worked on the Indian model of the modernism which focused on quest for nationalism while the other models such as the British model and the German model focused on expansion of intellectualism and conveying the propaganda of religions to readers through texts, he added.

Dr Jaya Prakash Mavinakuli, principal of MGM College presided over the inaugural function. Dr Mahabaleshwara Rao, principal of TMA Pai College of education and others were the chief guests.

The programme was organized by MGM College in association with Academy of General Education Manipal, Old Students' Association of Dr TMA Pai College of Education and Bharatiya Vidya Kendra Udupi - Manipal.
