Puttur, Apr 9: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has is contemplating to stop plying all KSRTC buses on Uppinangady- Kadaba- Subrahmanya route, by this April end.
The decision has been taken owing to the miserable condition of the roads in the area. If KSRTC stops plying buses on this stretch, the commuters will have to face hardship and inconvenience to a great extent.
The corporation is already facing heavy losses as it has to purchase spare parts to replace damaged ones for the busses running through this route on regular basis.
Though the Corporation was facing heavy losses even earlier, it had continuing service as students were having their exams.
Along with this a gradual increase in the number of taxies is observed on the route and it is expected that the number will increase further. Re-asphalting of the road has not been done so far. The projects drawn in this regard are gathering dust in files instead, the sources added.
