Mangalore, Apr 6:‘Mahua Memoirs,’ a Silver Conch Award winning film was screened at Teletorium auditorium of St Aloysius College, with the association of Sadanand Suvarna Cultural Foundation  and Department of Journalism, St Aloysius College, on Sunday, April 6 evening.
 
The 75 minutes documentory largely impressed the spectators for its richness of videography taken at Easternghat forest throughout Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand depicting the problems and harassment of Adivasis of these areas.

 
Change in the mining policy in the year of 1994 has invited private sector companies to engage this business. Private companies started mining ores from various parts of Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand. This has led to the displacement of Adivasis who have been residing in the  land since centuries. The struggle of the Adivasis for survival and how the private mining companies and government have exploited  them for their benefits were explained through this film.This was the main issue of this documentary.
 
Few Adivasi leaders who showed courage to resist and protest were killed by the goons of private companies.These Adivasis were not given proper compensation for the land they have taken.There was water scaecity water pollution due to mining and there were vehicles accident All these struggles against exploitation of Adivasis were brought to notice of public through this documentary.

The documentary successfully showed the rich culture and traditions of Adivasis and their relationship with the nature.
Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal of St Aloysius College was the chief guest . Interaction was held with Vinod Raja, director of the film, after the screening.
