Thrissur, May 21: Many a time, protests by the public over issues like repeated traffic jams may go unnoticed or fail to reach the government. But a unique protest, that too by a celebrity, has grabbed eyeballs, with the video of the incident already going viral.

The Paliyekkara toll plaza here has been seeing frequent traffic blocks for years now. However, when a Malayalam actress got stuck in a jam on Saturday May 20 at the same spot, she decided to do something about it and staged a flash protest and took to Facebook to express her annoyance.

National Award winning actress Surabhi Laxman staged a strong and passionate protest against the toll plaza employees for mismanagement and harassment of commuters, which she said resulted in traffic jams.

Surabhi, who along with her team, was on her way to attend an event when she got stuck in the toll queue for hours. Going live on Facebook, she vented her ire against the toll plaza employees.

In the video, she also pointed out at a family who was on the way to hospital but like her and hundreds of others, stuck in the traffic.

The video also shows toll plaza staff getting into an argument with the actress.

It may be noted that the toll company here allows vehicles to go without paying toll fee if more than five vehicles queue up together, but the employees allegedly do not follow this rule.

The actress' live protest on Facebook has already garnered 8,92,000 views, 21,000 shares and over 6,000 comments. Her protest may inpire commuters elswhere also to stage such protests whenever they feel at the receiving end of toll or traffic mismanagement.
