Bengaluru: Parvathamma Rajkumar's health condition serious, put on ventilator

Bengaluru, May 19: The health condition of Parvathamma Rajkumar, veteran producer of Kannada films and wife of the legendary Sandalwood actor, the late Rajkumar, has deteriorated. She is being treated as M S Ramaiah Hospital in the city.

After she complained of breathing difficulties on Wednesday evening, Pravathamma was shifted to intensive care unit of the hospital. She was put on ventilator. She also suffered kidney failure and had to be put through dialysis which was successful. The doctors said that the next two days will be critical as she is being given treatment after putting her on ventilator.

Hospital management confirmed that the health condition of Parvathamma has given rise to concerns and that all out efforts are being made to improve her condition. Dr Sanjay Kulkarni, who has been treating Parvathamma since long, and other four expert doctors, have been keeping close watch on her health condition, it added.

Parvathamma (76) had been admitted into the said hospital on Sunday night for age-related complication. The doctors provided symptomatic treatments to her and conducted various tests. Till Wednesday night, she was treated in the ward. The family members, who observed that she was feeling tired due to shortage of nutrition, had admitted her into hospital. The breast cancer problem for which she was treated in the past too has surfaced now. She was showing signs of improvement in health but at around 11 pm on Wednesday she suffered from breathing difficulty. Her sons, Raghavendra Rajkumar, Shiva Rajkumar and Puneeth Rajkumar besides other members of the family are in the hospital.

A number of dignitaries connected with Sandalwood and government officials visited M S Ramaiah Hospital on Thursday to make enquiries about the health condition of Parvathamma. Security adviser to home minister, Kempaiah, was among those who visited the hospital. Jaggesh, producers, Muniratna and K Manju and others also visited the hospital. A large number of police personnel were posted near the hospital to look after law and order situation.

In the meantime, there were rumours appearing in some social media that Parvathamma was no more. Even media persons went to the hospital. The hospital management which conducted press conference in the presence of Shiva and Raghavendra Rajkumar, requested the media not to fall prey to rumours and that Parvathamma was under treatment. Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president, Sa Ra Govindu and others were present.

    I know this family very well .A very hard working women.She has been the backbone of the production house making it seem effortly.A lot of credit goes to the hero's behind every hero.She has been a true inspiration to this generation.Hope she gets better and recovers soon.
