Bhatkal, May 17: Bloodstains were found on the front wall of Durga temple, Koteshwar Road in Bhatkal taluk on Wednesday, May 17.
Police have started investigations following suspicions that it is the act of miscreants.
Leader of temple renovation committee Ramakrishna Naika who saw the stains, informed other members of the committee. Bhatkal town police, who received information, came to the temple and conducted investigations.
Later the police made arrangements to collect and send the sample of blood to a laboratory to find out if it is of animal or fish.
Police said it is not possible to say now if the incident is unintentional or committed by miscreants.
A case stands registered in Bhatkal police station. Investigation has begun under the leadership of SI Kudagunta and SI Annappa Mogera.
Arrest urged
“Similar incident had occurred here in 2001. Police have taken proper action into that incident so far. There should be no room for recurrence of that incident. Police should investigate and arrest the accused. Protests will be held otherwise.” warned temple renovation committee leader Ramakrishna Naika.
Maruti Pavaskar, Jagadish Mahale and Mohan Shiralikar were present.
