Mangaluru May 15: KMC Hospital and College in association with World Health Organization performed a street play under the theme ‘Slow down slow lives’ at Kadri Park here on Sunday May 14. This street play was the last part of road safety week which was observed from May 8 to 14.
Medical students of KMC consisting of 15 members led by Yug acted in the 15 minutes play to create awareness about road safety. .
Speaking to daijiworld.com associate director of alumni Dr Santhosh Rai said, "The road safety week was from May 8 to 14. During this one week we conducted events such as essay writing, walkathon, slogan writing and street play. Accident is a major causes of death which is also manmade. So we need to create awareness among people about road safety. At the same time it is necessary to take up road safety measures to reduce such incidents."
Head of emergency department Dr Jeedhu Radhakrishna said," We need to focus on accidents, over speeding and rash driving. Two wheelers claim many lives from age group of 19 to 30. They are the backbone of our country and we should not lose them in such accidents".
One of the students, Yug ,said, "Due to the consumption of alcohol they lose thinking capacity and lose control and become victims of accidents. It takes just one sec to lose a life. We notice two-wheelers moving at a speed of more than 100 kilometers per hour at night. They need to be responsible for safety of others too. The change should come from within us and awareness should be created on road safety to stop such accidents".
