Mangalore, Mar 30: Divine Mercy novenas were held from Good Friday to Saturday 29, in churches across the diocese, in preparation to Feast of Divine Mercy Sunday on March 30.

The practice of novenas to Divine Mercy dates back to 1931 to 1938, in Poland wherein Sr Faustino had the apparitions of Mother Mary and Jesus, who taught the novena and told her to practice it from Good Friday to Sunday following Easter.  Lord also promised that sins will be forgiven of those who attend the novena of Divine Mercy for all the days and go to confession prior to the feast of Divine Mercy and receive Holy Communion, in a state of grace.

The feast of Divine Mercy was celebrated at Fatima Retreat House, Valencia during the festive Eucharistic Mass held at 9.00 a m.  Similarly, it was also celebrated at Infant Jesus Shrine, Carmel Hill, Bikarnakatte at 4.00 p m.  Fr Andrew D'Souza, parish priest of Blessed Joseph Vaz church, Mudipu was the main celebrant of festive Eucharistic Mass who offered Mass along with Fr Jerome Pereira and Fr Nelson Pinto, caretaker of Infant Jesus Shrine.

Patrick Lobo, Superior of Infant Jesus Shrine, Carmel Hill thanked all for joining in the festive occasion of Devine Mercy Sunday

Thousands of faithful gathered on the day of Mercy to receive the graces and indulgences for the repentance of sins.  Lord truly showered His blessings and graces on his flock.
