Mangalore, Mar 26: On the eve of AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi's visit, a membership drive was organized to enrol young people into the Youth Congress cadre, in different parts of the city particularly at the State Bank Junction, opposite T M A Pai Convention Centre, at St Agnes College, near DC's office and in front of Aloysius College here on Tuesday March 26.
The membership drive was launched in the presence of T M Shahid, general secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress (KPYC). Also present at the drive launch were Youth Congress task force members Naveen D'Souza, Sanjeev Joseph, Pankaj Kumar, Vishwas Kumar Das among other party members.
Around 2,000 denizens of the city responded to the open membership drive by afternoon at the State Bank junction venue whereas over 1,500 members responded at St Aloysius College, TMA Pai Convention Centre and at St Agnes College.
According to the organizers the membership drive will be opened in 16 different places too. The applications will be screened later and sent to respective blocks for providing membership to applicants. A good response is expected, opine the organizers.
