Shivamogga, Apr 30: Dismissing the allegations levelled by BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa that BJP national general secretary and RSS functionary B L Santosh was responsible for creating dissidence in Karnataka BJP, former deputy CM and party leader K S Eshwarappa said that Yeddyurappa should apologise not only to B L Santosh but to all RSS workers for his remarks.
Speaking to reporters here on Sunday April 30, Eshwarappa said, "RSS is the backbone of the party. Yeddyurappa's remarks against B L Santosh have hurt RSS workers, so he must apologise not only to Santosh but to also to the RSS workers."
He also pointed out that when Yeddyurappa had left BJP to form his own party (KJP), it was Santosh who rebuilt the BJP.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi and national BJP president Amit Shah gave a national-level post to B L Santosh because of his organizational skills. Yeddyurappa should not make such remarks. He needs to keep aside his ego and work for the welfare of the party," he said.
He also said that BJP was not a 'private limited company' but a democratic setup where issues are discussed with leaders and workers. "It is time Yeddyurappa realises this and stops taking decisions on his own," Eshwarappa said.
He, however, reiterated that Yeddyurappa continues to be the CM candidate for the next Assembly elections. "But he needs to change his ways. In January, Amit Shah had asked him to call a meet to end the differences in the party and a four-member committee was also formed. But so far, the meeting has not been held," he said.
