Mangalore, Mar 23: A painting competition 'Banna' specially for the mentally and physically challenged students of Chethana Special School, Karkala was organized by the Ants Animation School at Kadri Bala Bhavan in the city on Saturday March 22.
The original venue of this unique event was the the open grounds at Kadri park, however due to unseasonal down-pour resulting in wet and muddy grounds here, the venue of the competition was shifted to the Kadri Bala Bhavan, according to the organizers of the event.
The 'Banna' event was inaugurated at 11 am on Saturday by deputy mayor Shakila Kawa. The basic motive of the organizers in arranging this unique event being to help these special children find their rightful place in society and also enable them to realise their full potential.
Nearly 50 of the special children participated in the painting competition, with almost all children producing excellent works of painting and art which was appreciated by all those present. The first prize in the 'Banna' competition went to Arun while the second prize was bagged by Lithesh.
Also present on the occasion were Chetana Special school principal Leelavati, Ann's School director Diwakar and teacher Nithesh.
