Kundapur, Apr 27: Bajrang Dal activists numbering around 10 raided a house of people having dinner containing meat and assaulted three youth.
The incident happened on Monday April 24 late night at a Koraga colony at Angodi near Trasi and has to come to light late.
The incident took place at the house of the sister of gram panchayat member Shakuntala. As there was an engagement of Shakuntala’s niece scheduled for April 25, guests were having dinner containing meat. At that time, 10 Bajrang Dal activists led by Gururaj Acharya, Sunil Poojary and Chandrakanth Poojary entered the house and accused the people of having cow meat in their dinner.
Assaulted youth being taken to police station
It is reported that the Bajrang Dal activists used an offensive language against Shakuntala, abused her targeting her community and assaulted three youth namely Harish (26), Srikanth (19) and Mahesh (20). They threatened that all the houses in the colony will be set on fire.
It may be noted that the incident comes close on the heels of police raid on the Koraga colony, during which, the above three persons were taken into custody for allegedly slaughtering cattle illegally.
Later the Bajrang Dal activists complained to Gangolli police and handed over three youth to them. Police registered a case against the youth based on the complaint filed by Bajrang Dal activists and released them on bail on Wednesday. Harish, who is more injured, has been admitted to a hospital in Kundapur.
Meanwhile Shakuntala has lodged a late police complaint on Wednesday night against the Bajrang Dal activists and a case stands registered. Police are investigating.
Dalit Sangharsha Samithi has called for stern action against Bajrang Dal activists for assault and abusing the community.
