Mangalore, Mar 22: Possessing ISO certification is highly essential as it improves the image and reputation of firms and on the other hand enhances confidence of consumers and buyers, said Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, president of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
He was delivering the inaugural address at Industrial Motivation Campaign on Awareness on ISO 9000 held at the conference hall of KCCI on Saturday, March 22.
It is the era redefined by the saying 'survival of the fittest' and constituted by competition. Having ISO certificate helps respective firms or organizations to improve their competitive edge, he suggested.
It was perceived earlier that having ISO certification was a criterion to export goods to the European countries. But it is partially true. It is always advisable to have ISO certification as it helps firms in the long run by bringing in customers' satisfaction, B S Baliga, chief executive of Lamina Suspention Products Ltd.
Reiterating the need to posses ISO certification, Baliga said firms with ISO certificate sustain pressure of all forms. Firms must take measures to renew the certificate which also poses challenges to firms to maintain standards in their products from manufacturing to delivery, he added.
P V Velayudhan, deputy director of Br MSME DI presided over the inaugural ceremony.
Participants and office bearers of KCCI were present on the occasion.
