Panaji, Apr 24 (TOI): The draft coastal zone management plan (CZMP) for Goa being prepared by the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM) will have details of activities to be undertaken by various departments.

It is likely to be submitted to the government for approval by this month.

NCSCM recently held a 2-day meeting with stakeholders, especially government departments, in Chennai, wherein issues pertaining to CZMP were taken up. A draft plan for Goa was discussed wherein CRZ II areas have been demarcated as per the municipal boundaries maps of the directorate of settlement & land records (DSLR).

New CRZ for villages such as Calangute, Candolim and other ODP areas will be demarcated as CRZ II based on the notification by GCZMA, latest by April 26.

During the meeting, it came to the light that most of the departments did not submit the date by which the details would be ready.

The participants decided that the draft CZMPs finalized in the stakeholders' meeting along with their report will have to be sent to the GCZMA, latest by April 29, for review and approval of the government. The data on the proposed activities projects will be included in the draft CZMP notification as policy statements.

Fisheries department has been requested to send data on fish landing centres. The Department of Mines, Municipal Administration, Captain of Ports and a few others have not provided any data so far. It was decided at the meeting that the GCZMA should send letters to these departments seeking the data.

Departments such as fisheries, tourism, water resource, public works, Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation and town and country planning have submitted data on the completed projects/facilities, which will be marked on the CZMP. The Directorate of Survey and Land Records have not provided georeferenced cadastral maps to NCSCM, as per the minutes of the meeting.

The draft Goa CZMP notification 2017 will be published in the GCZMA website.
