Mangaluru: India can be hub of physiotherapy - Ananth Kumar at Vikas College

Mangaluru, Apr 22: Ananth Kumar, union minister of chemicals and fertilizers and parliament affairs, along with Ramesh Jigajinagi, union minister of state for drinking water and sanitation on Saturday April 22 inaugurated the renovated labs of Vikas College of Physiotherapy here.

Addressing the students and staff of the College after the inauguration, Ananth Kumar said, "Along with the charge of chemicals and fertilizers ministry, I am also handling the department of pharmaceutical and medical devices. There is close relationship between physiotherapy and pharmaceuticals. The Indian physiotherapy is mingled with Indian culture and has its own scientific factors. Our physiotherapy is already accepted in worldwide. India has all the potential to become world's hub of physiotherapy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

"In every sports field, physiotherapist has a major role to play in players' performance. But a physio's importance is not only limited to sports. Patients, differently-abled persons, senior citizens, everyone needs physios' help. Be it hospitals, trauma centers or sports, everywhere physios are required. Hence, we have to encourage our generation to opt for this field. There is vast opportunity in this field. Nowadays, physiotherapists are very few in number. We can see a number massage centers in every corner in our cities, but their aim is only to make money. Sometimes these centers support even support illegal activities. So these centers cannot be compared with physiotherapy. Physiotherapy has its own sanctity. A physio can make a person healthy and strong," he added.

"Today there is huge demand for Indian pharmaceutical products in world market. Already, we have became the world's pharmacy. In physiotherapy also we should achieve this name. We can do it. Our mentality should change from primary, preliminary to masters. Once we become masters, the wait is not long for us to become the world's hub of physiotherapy," he concluded.

Union minister Ramesh Jigajinagi said, "India has a rich human resource, so we should try to convert it into opportunities. The rapid growth in medical and pharmaceutical fields has made India proud. Along with this, we should tell the world about the importance physiotherapy. In this regard, the management of Vikas College has taken the right step and I congratulating them."

MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik congratulated the chairman and the trustees, and lauded their efforts towards building and maintaining a prestigious institution of national fame.

Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel, former state minister and chairman of the institution Krishna J Palemar, advisor of Vikas Group of Institutions Dr Ananth Prabhu G, and administrator of the college Parthasarathy J Palemar were present on dais.

Vikas College of Physiotherapy was incepted in the year of 1983 under the patronage of Vikas Education Trust. Krishna J Palemar, former minister is the chairman of this trust. The college is one among the best colleges in Karnataka attracting students from different states of country. Vikas College of Physiotherapy offers masters (MPT) and bachelor (BPT) degree courses. The college is headed by principal Dr Ramesh and its overall administration is governed by Parthasarathy J Palemar. More than 2,000 students have graduated from this institution and are currently holding reputable positions in the physiotherapy field. Vikas PU College, another institution run by Vikas Education Trust in one of the top PU colleges in Karnataka. Dr Ananth Prabhu G is the advisor for Vikas Group of Institutions.
