Puttur: Women Volunteers Protest against TP Officer's Misbehaviour

Puttur, March 19: Women volunteers of literacy campaign protested against the reported indecenct behaviour of executive officer of taluk panchayat Nagesh with the volunteers of literacy campaign. Volunteers who were protesting in the premises of sub-divisional officer demanded immediate suspension of the officer.

Sources stated that Nagesh ill-treated Aruna D and Yashoda who had been to his office to invite him for a literacy programme. The officer is said to have defamed them before ordering them to leave the place. The volunteers said that despite the fact that the incident was brought to the notice of governor, higher officials and women's commission nothing has been done to take stringent action against the officer, which prompted the volunteers to stage protest.

The office-bearers of different organizations who gave moral support to the volunteers condemned the attitude of the officer towards literacy programmes.

Later the protesters submitted a memorandum addressing the governor to the sub-divisional officer requesting stern action against the officer.
