Udupi: Weaker Sections Must Fight Atrocities Collectively’

Udupi, Mar 18: B.K. Hariprasa, general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC), said on Sunday that the weaker and backward sections of society should collectively fight against atrocities being committed on them.

He was speaking at the installation ceremony of the office-bearers of Brahamavar unit of Sri Narayanaguru Yuva Vedike at Brahmavar in Udupi district.

Vedike’s role

Mr. Hariprasad said organisations such as the vedike helped in socio-economic and political development of weaker sections.

Education

The weaker sections should give importance to education. Education was the key to progress. The youth should follow the ideals of Narayanaguru, he said.

Zilla panchayat member B.N. Shankar Poojory presided over the function. President of zilla panchayat Raju Poojary, president of district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kota Srinivas Poojary, former MP Vinaykumar Sorake, former MLA U.R. Sabhapathi, and president of the Dakshina Kannada Mogaveera Mahajana Sangha Pramod Madhwaraj were present.

General secretary of the Vedike Surendra Poojary welcomed the gathering. Ashok Heroor proposed a vote of thanks.
