Kundapur, Apr 11: Members of Kundapur taluk panchayat condemned the performance of panchayat executive officer and walked out from the meeting urging for the transfer of the officer, on Monday, April 10.

Congress members expressed their determination not to be present for the meeting. The meeting started in the presence of BJP members.

Member Umesh Shetty Kalgadde at the beginning of the meeting said that no applications are received by the committee for 9/11. “Rs 15 lacs grant is returned. The chief executive officer does not work according to the prestige of the position. Not even one employment guarantee meeting has been held. There is no compatibility between officials, president and vice president. The administration has collapsed due to lack of concord. Speaking lightly about taluk panchayat members, disrespecting them has become standard. Such officers should be transferred immediately”, he said.

Member Pushparaj Shetty who joined his voice said that the chief executive officer does not have the power or the right to scrutinise the works done in taluk panchayat limits. “We do not want officers who do not respect taluk panchayat members. I will resort to sitting in protest in front of the zilla panchayat if the official is not transferred within a week”, he said.

Member Narayana Gujjadi speaking on occasion said that questioning a member or insulting him is an insult to all. I have seen a scarcity of adjustment. A decision should be registered in this respect.

Members Karuna Poojary, vice president Pravin Kumar Shetty joined them. As the allegations against the executive officer increased, the members presented a motion of no confidence and walked out.

The meeting became the victim of the dissatisfaction. The meeting which should have discussed problems of drinking water, other serious problems and their solutions became the victim of officer’s anguish.

Taluk panchayat president Jayashree Mogaveera presided over the meeting. Vice president Pravin Shetty, social justice committee president Mahendra Poojary, executive officer Chennappa Moily was present.

'We did not go to the meeting'

When BJP members spoke of condemning the functioning of executive officer and taking a decision, Raju Devadiga, Congress supported taluk panchayat member said that they wanted to give an opportunity and see the outcome. “The solution to any problem can be arrived at after discussions. As the ruling party members did not agree to it, we did not go to the meeting. Taluk panchayat has already seen three executive officers. Therefore, it is not appropriate to pressurise for a change of executive officer. As regards allegations of lapse of Rs 15 lacs, I do not have clear information”, he said.

'I am willing to take oath in Maranakatte temple'

“There is no truth in the allegations made by the members. I have got all the records. I do not know why the members are acting like this. If they have respect for religious places, let them come to Maranakatte temple and say it,” said executive Chennappa Moily.
