Mangaluru, Apr 7: "I have learnt that the claim made regarding Ahmed Qureshi from Katipalla, who was subjected to police torture, of having lost a kidney, is true. I enquired about the issue and got confirmation from the district medical officer (DMO) that the youth lost his kidney and he suffered injuries in his body," said Mangaluru North MLA Mohiuddin Bava at a press meet held at his office in MCC here on Friday, April 7.
"I have already requested our chief Minister Siddaramaiah to order judicial probe or COD inquiry into this case. This request was not made based on the caste, community of the victim, but based on humanitarian concern. I hope that the truth will come out by a probe," he added.
“At the same time I condemn the attack on Urwa ASI Aithappa. Putting his life into risk, he went to give security and protection for people. He is the real hero for us. The government will stand by him and will be ready to give necessary assistance to police department in such incidents." Bawa said.
"The mass protests in public places without prior notice and permission are against the law and everyone should know about it. I request the public not to listen to rumours. We need everyone's support to maintain the peace in society. “he opined.
