Mangaluru, Apr 6: A police constable, who took pity on a youth who had fallen into a pit with his vehicle and helped him to come out, was slapped by the unidentified bike rider. The incident happened at Boliyar near Ullal on Wednesday April 5.
Adarsh (24), police constable attached to Konaje station got this treatment. Police personnel are now trying to find out the identity of the errant bike rider.
The motor bike driven by a young person was moving towards Boliyar from the direction of Mudipu when it fell into pit dug for erecting protective barricades on the roadside. It is said that Adarsh, who was passing by, helped the bike rider to recover from the situation and organize himself. Some locals also joined hands in this task. The rider, who got seated on his motor bike, instead of thanking the constable for timely help, slapped him, duly wanting to know why roadside pits were left in that condition, and sped away in his two-wheeler.
A complaint was filed in Konaje station by the constable concerned, and an investigation has been launched.
