Bantwal, Apr 5: In connection with an incident in which a student was assaulted in front of the government first grade college at Vittal in the taluk, six students have been suspended from college for a period of five days. This action was taken on Tuesday April 4 in tune with the decision of the disciplinary committee of the college.
The suspended students at Yogeesh K, Sanat Alva and Prasad M, all third year BCom degree course students, Hrshit K, third year BA degree student, as well as Ajit Kumar P and Geetesh, both second BCom students.
It is said that the gang of the above six students attacked Sheikh Afrik Rafiq, a final year BA degree class student on Monday April 3 afternoon, when he was coming out after attending classes. The principal said that the disciplinary committee which met, considered the incident and decided to suspend the members of the gang which attacked the student.
It is said that fight had broken out between two teams of student during college annual day programme on a frivolous issue. Reportedly, in connection with this incident, Yogeesh, who was standing near Bavikatte on college road was attacked by a gang sometime back.
