Puttur, Apr 3: A complaint was filed in Uppinangady police station against Balakrishna Gowda (32), resident of Rekhya village, alleging that he has been harassing a lady belonging to dalit community residing at Bagilagadde in Shiradi village. The accused reportedly threatened the girl of creating fake video clipping about her and ensuring that her standing and self respect were sullied by releasing the video through social websites.
It is said that Gowda had pressurized the lady not to get married. After she resisted his pressure and got married, he used to spread false propaganda about her and continued with his threat of preparing fake video clips by using her photograph. In a complaint filed, elder brother of the lady told Uppinangady police that the accused also showed inclination to spoil the lady's future by providing false information to her husband.
The Uppinangady police, who jumped into action immediately, arrested the accused. A first information report has been filed, booking him under sections pertaining to criminal intimidation, The Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act etc.
