Mandya, Apr 3: Police have succeeded in cracking the case of the murder of a teacher named Shashibhushan (47) within two days. The teacher was killed between Arechakanahalli and Gudigere villages of Maddur taluk in the district.
The wife and daughter of the victim have been arrested for this contract killing. Their names have been given as Shashibhushan's wife, Shanthamma (42), and daughter, Navyashree (20).
The police claim that the murder happened on account of enmity between family members. The needle of suspicion turned towards the two women after the police saw them behaving oddly during questioning. During intensive interrogation, it is said, the duo revealed that having been frustrated by unending atrocities heaped on them by Shashibhushan, they decided to eliminate him. They hired killers by paying five lac rupees to them, it is said. The cellphone recovered from the accused revealed that the mother-daughter duo was behind this killing.
The police said that they have found that photographs of Shashibhushan, the road he takes to go to school and that of the school he worked for had been sent to the killers by the duo through WhatsApp. Both of them were produced before the judge, after which they were remanded to judicial custody.
Shashibhushan and Shanthamma couple suffered from lack of proper understanding between them. Although the couple had decided to file for divorce in the past, the proposal was put off after relatives intervened and struck compromise. However, the problem of compatibility continued to mar their relationship. Navyashree had once run away from her home, having been unable to cope with her father's harassment after which Shashibhushan used to keep aloof from her. It is said that he had not even invited his daughter for the house warming ceremony of the house he had recently constructed.
