Bengaluru, Apr 3: A person who used to tease his friend, seeking to marry the latter's sister, and often provoked him by threatening to otherwise kidnap and marry her, was killed by the irate friend. The incident happened in the city outskirts, and police personnel of Kengeri station have arrested both the murderer and his accomplice.
The arrested young men happen to be Pratap (20), and Madesh (24), both residents of Srinivasapura Layout here. It is said that both of them killed Puttaswamy (40) from Uttarahalli here on March 30 before packing the body in a gunny bag and throwing it into the main drain.
Pratap, doing housekeeping work in BGS Hospital here, and Puttaswamy, a civic worker, stayed in neighbouring houses. They used to consume liquor together. Puttaswamy often used to pester Pratap to give his younger sister in marriage to him. Although he was warned by Pratap not to raise this issue, Puttaswamy used to raise this issue whenever he was drunk, it is said. On the next day of Ugadi festival, both fought on this issue. In a fit of rage, Pratap kicked Puttaswamy in the chest as a result of which Puttaswamy died on the spot. Later, with the help of another friend, Madesh, Pratap packed the body in a gunny bage and tossed the bag into the main drain, police officials said.
On being produced in the court, both were remanded to two weeks judicial custody by the court.
