Mangaluru, Apr 1: Coastalwood appears to be treading on a whole new path with an incident of assault by a film actor on a fan who passed a negative comment after watching one of the recent films of the actor.
Film actors are influenced by cricket these days. They also participate in local cricket tournaments. The fan reportedly told the young actor who had come to play cricket that his old films were nice. “Their story, songs and dialogues were also good. However your films these days lack lustre. The story and tunes of the songs are copied from elsewhere. The dialogues do not have comedy in them,” he said.
The young actor came forward to hit the fan with his cricket bat. The actor's companions struggled to control him. By then, the actor had hit the fan. As the assault intensified, locals who gathered there urged the actor to apologise to the fan. The actor inevitably apologised.
Tulu film fans discard films if they do not like them. If they like them, they watch them even about ten times and urge others to watch them als well. However, the tradition of respecting a sincere fan who does not hesitate to pass negative comment if a film is not good has not taken shape. Such a development will be a distant possibility so long as there are people praising all the films regardless of their worth.
