Kundapur, Mar 30: Thieves entered Goddess Durgambika temple at Kela Herur, Byndoor in the taluk on the night of Tuesday and decamped with gold jewellery and valuables. The theft came to light on Wednesday March 29 morning.
Ramayya Balegar, who happens to be the priest and hereditary trustee of the temple, came to know about the theft on his arrival at the temple to perform the morning puja on Wednesday morning. Gold jewellery, golden cymbal, silver aureole and other items totally valued at Rs 3.25 lac have gone missing, he stated.
The thieves had broken open the lock of the front door to gain entry into the temple. Byndoor police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
