Puttur, Mar 12: Nearly 325 domestic gas cylinders were confiscated from the unauthorized godown of the C A Bank in Uppinagady here following a raid by a team led by the assistant commissioner P Vasant Kumar and civil food officers on Tuesday March 11. .

On reaching the godown, the team had found 234 cylinder dumped and 91 from the distributing truck of H P. It is believed that C A bank was giving the cylinders to domestic users as a form of help. When people came to know about it they gathered at the bank and informed about the same to Vasant Kumar.

He said that it is the duty of the distributor to supply the cylinders, and not that of the bank. Therefore he ordered for all cylinders to be returned to their owners. He also expressed his displeasure over dumping of cylinders and even warned bank authorities to stop it immediately. He however, refrained from taking any action on the matter.

When the issue was investigated it was found that C A bank was obtaining domestic cylinders and supplying the same to domestic users since past 5 years. Since the local distributors were not supplying the cylinders, the task was undertaken by the C A Bank.

Now since the supply of cylinders has been stopped, the question arises - who will supply the domestic cylinders ? In this context the domestic users association president Jayanth Porali has urged the DC to give permit to C A Bank to distribute domestic cylinders.
